Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) has commenced mass production of its 100 V integrated gallium nitride (GaN) power-stage integrated circuit (IC) family, which includes the EPC23108, EPC23109, EPC23110, and EPC23111 models. These ePower™ Stage ICs are tailored for high-performance motion-control applications and feature integration of high-side and low-side eGaN® FETs, gate drivers, and level-shifting circuitry within compact, thermally enhanced QFN packages. The devices are designed to operate up to 100 V with current ratings of 35 A and 20 A, which varies by model. The integrated design aims to enhance power density and efficiency, while also simplifying system design.
The new product family boasts features such as fast fault shutdown, safe gate control during power-loss conditions, and continuous 100% duty-cycle operation. Additionally, single-input PWM options cater to multi-axis motor-control applications. To complement these innovations, EPC is offering the EPC91128, EPC91129, EPC91130, and EPC91131 three-phase BLDC motor-drive evaluation boards. These platforms are based on the new power-stage ICs and come equipped with gate drivers, current and voltage sensing, housekeeping power supplies, temperature monitoring, and protection functions.
These devices are distributed globally through EPC’s network, including partners like Digi-Key and Mouser. The target applications for these new ICs include humanoid robots, drones, industrial motor drives, medical equipment, synchronous rectification, and high-density DC-DC converters. The pricing for the EPC23108 and EPC23109 is set at $3.70 each, while the EPC23110 and EPC23111 are available for $2.47 each, based on orders of 3,000 units. The evaluation boards, EPC91128 and EPC91129, are priced at $640, and the EPC91130 and EPC91131 are priced at $630 each.
EPC is further supporting the launch with the release of a technical white paper, available in both English and Chinese, which details the architecture, design considerations, and evaluation platforms of the new integrated GaN power-stage ICs. This paper serves as a resource for understanding the innovations and applications of these products.
