China has called on India to adhere to bilateral border agreements and collaborate in maintaining peace and stability along their disputed border. This appeal comes amid reports of renewed standoffs between the two nations.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun emphasized that China consistently follows existing agreements with India. According to Guo, China’s routine patrols and border management activities aim to protect its territorial sovereignty and ensure stability in the border regions. His comments were made following reports of increased tensions along the China-India border.
An Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson had previously noted that such incidents arise when Chinese troops veer from established patrolling patterns. Despite these tensions, Guo highlighted that both countries are in communication through diplomatic and military channels to resolve border-related issues.
Guo urged India to work alongside China to implement the understandings reached by both parties and to take practical steps to prevent further tensions. He noted that maintaining peace and tranquility along the border remains a significant challenge for both nations as they manage territorial disputes through dialogue and established communication mechanisms.
