China has emphasized its dedication to enhancing ties with Central Asian nations during Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to Kyrgyzstan. The visit prioritized discussions on regional cooperation and multilateral engagement, with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the China–Central Asia mechanism, and the United Nations as focal points.
In a series of meetings with leaders and foreign ministers from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, China reiterated its support for Kyrgyzstan’s upcoming role as host of the SCO Bishkek Summit. Additionally, China pledged to uphold Kyrgyzstan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Both nations agreed to bolster collaboration on issues of regional peace, security, and development.
Discussions with Uzbekistan highlighted the significance of progressing on the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan Railway project. Both countries are keen on expanding cooperation into emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, smart agriculture, and modern industrial development, reflecting a forward-looking partnership.
Tajikistan and China also renewed their commitment to strengthening their bilateral relationship. Following the signing of a long-term friendship and cooperation treaty earlier this year, both nations are focused on expanding practical partnerships in sectors like energy and regional connectivity.
The visit underscored China’s increasing strategic engagement with Central Asia, with a particular focus on infrastructure development, trade, technological innovation, and maintaining regional stability. These efforts reflect China’s broader goal of deepening its influence and cooperation within the region.
