Russia to Resume US-Mediated Peace Talks with Ukraine in November

by admin477351

Russia has agreed to resume peace talks with Ukraine and the United States, raising hopes for renewed diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing conflict. The Kremlin announced that these negotiations could occur in Abu Dhabi on or after November 10, following a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US envoy Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg.

The proposed talks aim to address security guarantees for both Russia and Ukraine in the event of a conflict resolution. However, significant differences remain between Moscow and Kyiv regarding the terms of a potential peace agreement. The discussions are expected to occur at a technical level.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed support for these trilateral negotiations, suggesting that freezing the conflict along the current front lines could be a realistic starting point for ending the fighting. This would be contingent on Ukraine receiving reliable security assurances from the United States and European nations.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has increased pressure on Ukraine to reach a settlement, with Washington actively seeking to bring both parties back to the negotiating table. Despite these diplomatic efforts, the Kremlin has indicated that some proposals from recent meetings remain unacceptable to Moscow.

Hostilities continue as attempts to find a diplomatic solution unfold. Recent attacks have reportedly resulted in civilian injuries in Kyiv, while Russian authorities have also reported casualties from drone attacks targeting the Moscow region.

The planned negotiations represent another attempt at achieving peace, though disagreements over territorial control, security arrangements, and ceasefire terms pose substantial obstacles to a lasting resolution.
