During the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting to reaffirm the robust strategic relations between their nations. President Xi underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation by synchronizing development strategies, with a focus on expanding trade, cross-border e-commerce, and initiatives in energy, transport, and the digital economy.
President Xi also highlighted the potential for collaboration in a range of sectors, including artificial intelligence, education, healthcare, science, and culture. He emphasized the significance of multilateral platforms like the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in fostering this cooperation.
President Tokayev acknowledged China’s pivotal role as Kazakhstan’s foremost foreign policy partner. He expressed a strong desire to broaden cooperation in various domains such as trade, investment, transportation, agriculture, energy, and the governance of artificial intelligence.
Following their discussions, the two leaders observed the signing of multiple cooperation agreements that are set to enhance collaboration in trade, transport, finance, and media. These agreements are expected to strengthen the bilateral ties between China and Kazakhstan further.
